Now in AmsterdamBODY WORLDS & The Story of the Heart
More than 34 million
people have seen this fascinating exhibition. Now Amsterdam gets the
opportunity, too! Plastinator Dr. Gunther von Hagens and curator Dr.
Angelina Whalley present their current exhibition at the EXPO Zuidas BODY WORLDS & The Story of the Heart. Sacrificing
none of the awe of the original, this edition by the prolific duo
offers visitors profound insights into the human body, health and
disease, and the intricate world of the cardiovascular system. Featuring
a unique collection of over 200 authentic human specimens including
whole-body plastinates, organs and translucent body slices, BODY WORLDS & The Story of the Heart highlights cardiology and the heart. In this
presentation, the first functioning organ to develop in the human embryo
takes centerstage. The most hardworking organ of all, the four
chambered muscle that nourishes, regulates, and sustains life is viewed
through the lens of anatomy, cardiology, and psychology. Viewed as the
seat of emotions, the heart is also considered in the context of
history, culture and the humanities. | | |
